About the Job
IBM is hiring Software Engineers – Confluent for its IBM Software division. This opportunity is ideal for fresh graduates and early-career professionals who want to build enterprise-grade cloud-native applications, distributed systems, and platform engineering solutions. You'll work with experienced engineers on products that help organizations manage, monitor, and secure modern data platforms at scale.
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of Unified Stream Manager (USM) and Confluent Control Center (C3), building features related to observability, cluster monitoring, security, and hybrid cloud management. This role provides hands-on experience with distributed systems, software development, cloud technologies, and collaborative engineering practices while working alongside senior mentors in a global technology environment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- Fresh graduates and candidates with 0–4 years of software development experience are eligible to apply.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, networking, concurrency, and operating systems.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Go, or a similar modern language.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Interest in distributed systems, cloud technologies, and platform engineering is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality software features for IBM's Unified Stream Manager (USM) and Confluent Control Center (C3).
- Build, test, and maintain scalable platform solutions for hybrid cloud and distributed systems.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while following IBM engineering standards and best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting production issues.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design, implement, and improve platform capabilities.
- Create technical design documents and incorporate feedback from peers and stakeholders.
- Support monitoring, observability, cluster health, and connector management workflows.
- Continuously enhance technical expertise by learning distributed systems, cloud technologies, and platform engineering concepts.
Skills Required
- Programming Languages – Proficiency in Java, Go, or another modern programming language.
- Data Structures & Algorithms – Strong understanding of DSA, concurrency, networking, and operating systems.
- Distributed Systems – Basic knowledge of distributed systems and large-scale platform architectures.
- Software Development – Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Cloud & Container Technologies – Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is an advantage.
- Problem Solving – Strong analytical thinking and debugging skills.
- Communication & Collaboration – Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and participate in code reviews.
- Learning Mindset – Passion for learning new technologies, platform engineering, and cloud-native development.
