About the Job
Qualcomm is hiring Software Engineers to join its Networking Data Path team in Bengaluru. In this role, you'll develop next-generation networking software for wireless access point and router solutions, working on high-performance networking protocols, Linux kernel programming, device drivers, AI/ML-powered traffic management, and advanced packet processing technologies.
As a Software Engineer, you'll collaborate with experienced engineers to solve complex networking challenges involving packet flow optimization, traffic management, Linux networking, hardware acceleration, and data path performance. Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline from a nationally reputed institution.
- 0–2 years of experience in software development using C/C++ programming languages.
- Strong understanding of Linux Kernel internals with exposure to low-level kernel programming, including writing or modifying device drivers.
- Good knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, ARP, and DHCP protocols.
- Basic understanding of the Linux networking stack and familiarity with Ethernet or Wireless LAN device drivers is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of L2/L3/L4 packet forwarding technologies such as Bridge, Routing, Open vSwitch (OVS), DPDK, or VPP will help candidates stand out.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and optimize high-performance networking software for Qualcomm's wireless access point and router platforms using C/C++.
- Develop and enhance networking data path components, focusing on packet processing, traffic management, service delivery, and networking performance optimization.
- Work on advanced networking technologies, including TCP/UDP, IPv4, IPv6, ARP, DHCP, Linux networking stack, and unified data path architectures.
- Develop, modify, and maintain Linux Kernel modules and device drivers while contributing to low-level networking software and hardware interaction.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to build and improve AI/ML-powered smart traffic management solutions and networking features for next-generation wireless products.
- Analyze complex networking challenges, debug performance bottlenecks, optimize packet forwarding, and improve overall system efficiency across software and hardware platforms.
- Contribute to technologies such as Bridge, Routing, Open vSwitch (OVS), DPDK, VPP, Ethernet, and Wireless LAN networking while ensuring high-quality software delivery.
- Participate in code reviews, debugging sessions, technical discussions, testing, documentation, and continuous improvements while working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.

- Programming Languages – Strong proficiency in C and C++ with a solid understanding of memory management, pointers, multithreading, and performance optimization.
- Linux Kernel Development – Good understanding of Linux Kernel internals, kernel modules, device driver development, kernel debugging, and low-level system programming.
- Networking Fundamentals – Strong knowledge of TCP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, ARP, DHCP, packet processing, socket programming, and networking concepts.
- Linux Networking Stack – Familiarity with Linux networking architecture, Ethernet drivers, Wireless LAN technologies, packet forwarding, routing, and network device drivers.
- Networking Technologies – Exposure to Layer 2/Layer 3/Layer 4 networking, Bridge, Routing, Open vSwitch (OVS), DPDK, VPP, or similar packet forwarding frameworks is an added advantage.
